The Workshops

The Career Workshop consists of 4 key modules supported by Powerpoint presentations throughout

  1. Skills Audit & Job Search
  2. The CV
  3. Preparation for Interview
  4. Skills and Professsions within the workplace

The first module of the workshop, Skills Audit & Job Search identifies individual strengths and weaknesses using a series of 21 searching questions. This is an interactive workshop with significant input from the scholars which invariably prompts discussion within the group and leads towards a positive outcome when prompted to consider which type of job activity or profession is most suitable. The module also identifies areas for development within various skills areas.

The second module The CV advises in detail what makes a good a CV. The document must be targeted to the relevent job, simple clear and concise. It should be free from spelling, grammatical and typing errors. The module provides the scholars with a framework to create their own CV. The workshop also provides three examples of CV and the group work through them identifying the strengths and weaknesses of each one.

The third module concentrates on Preparation for Interview. This module includes tips on how to prepare for an interview, including what you should and should not wear, reminding them that on arrival to the company they are on interview even before the formal proceedings begin. The module covers advise on what you should say at the start of the interview, how to answer questions effectively and how to finish the interview in a professional manner.

Radio Rock is a mythical radio station that plays a pivotal role for another interactive module that goes some way to categorise individuals personal preferences for each work skill or profession within a specific radio station. Again, a fun exercise that always has a positive outcome brought about by the scholars.
